Bill & Connie McDonald

Bill and Connie McDonald have ministered in Latin America since 1989. During their first term Bill and Connie pioneered a church in Cuenca, Ecuador. The church, Centro Cristiano, has now grown to over 4000 attendants each Sunday, and more than 50 daughter churches throughout the Andean Region of Ecuador. Additionally, Bill and Connie lead the Assemblies of God’s Latin America Child Care program to plant schools with a Christ-centered focus throughout Ecuador. In 2002 Centro Cristiano was placed under the leadership of Ecuadorian nationals as Bill and Connie heeded the Lord’s call in other forms of ministry. In April 2003, Bill founded Unsión Television Network International. Founded as a small, volunteer-based firm, Unsión is now an international organization that broadcasts programming with a Biblical worldview throughout the Americas and Caribbean. Unsión Network is a commercial communications company that offers family value programming in an industry overrun with vulgar, lewd, and graphic programming. Upon its inception, Unsión had the possibility of reaching more than 500,000 Hispanics living in and around Cuenca, Ecuador. Unsión can now touch 500,000,000 Hispanics across the Americas with moral, family value programming thanks to modern day technology and satellites. Unsión is growing in viewer size all through Ecuador daily. Cities throughout Ecuador and the rest of Latin America are waiting for the resources to broadcast Unsión in their community. The technology is available to reach half-a-billion people with a Biblical-centered worldview as soon as the resources are put into place.

Students For Christ (SFC); Impacting the future intellectual, corporate and political leaders of Europe and the world through university missions – one student at a time.

University students in postmodern Europe live in a spiritual vacuum. Their religious experiences as children were minimal, attending church primarily for weddings and funerals. One university professor explained, “We have our religious life, and we have our everyday life, and we don’t mix them.” As a result, young people see faith as antiquated, irrelevant and hypocritical. Our primary ministry focus, the Free University of Brussels, is officially atheistic. Christian meetings aren’t allowed on campus, so we host students in our home once a week. Our goal is to locate property near the campus for a coffee shop where students could study, snack or visit with friends and listen to music.

Steffi, a young woman from Austria, is proof that this kind of fellowship is important. Steffi turned away from church as a teenager. She often spent time with us, but never went to the weekly SFC meetings. She told us frankly, “I know I need to turn my life back over to God, but I’m just not ready to take that step.” Steffi returned to Austria to finish her degree. However, God brought her back to Brussels to complete an internship at a local business. She spent more time with us, and when school started, attended a back-to-school barbecue. The next week Steffi came to eat with us before the weekly SFC meeting. Afterwards, Steffi talked to Deanne. “Last night I gave my life back to Christ,” she said excitedly. “One of the things that really influenced my decision was being here at the barbecue last Friday and seeing how much everybody at SFC cares for each other.” Our challenge is to help students make the leap from the dead cultural religion of their childhood to the living, powerful Christ who speaks to their seeking hearts and cares about their daily lives.
