Summer Get Away, is a retreat/vacation experience for people with disabilities. Summer Get Away is the highlight to many of the guests’ year. Every year by the end of the first day they are telling you that they are going to come back next year. It is the only time for many of them to come and experience a “church like” atmosphere and it is such a joy to see the guest enter in to worship.
And what about the care-givers… it does take some special people to do this job, but any of them will tell that the blessings they receive far out weigh any challenge or inconvenience they might experience.
“Summer Get Away” is truly an experience of a life-time and a guaranteed blessing for everyone who participates… from the guests, to the care-givers, to the worship leaders & speakers, to the tech and cooks…EVERYONE gets ministered to. Charlie & Debbie founded Special Touch Ministry in 1982. Since that time, the Chivers have dedicated their lives as full-time appointed missionaries working with people with disabilities.
